My girlfriend of 2 years refuses to let me text or even message other girls on myspace. Is this norm

I love her very much, and we've spent literally almost every waking moment together for the last two years. During this time, I've become somewhat friends with some of her girlfriends. I very rarely go out without her, and I haven't ever cheated on her. However, she gets VERY jealous when I even talk to other girls. She won't let me text them or message them on myspace without threatening to break up with me. A few months ago, I got mad because she always went through and read every single text message I had. It's not that I care if she reads them, but it's just that I don't like that she reads them out of suspicion and jealously. It seems like she's always checking to make sure I'm not doing anything. So, one day, I took the phone from her as she was going through my messages, and told her that I don't like her doing that. Of course, that only made it worse. Is this normal behavior for her to act this way, even when I don't hang out with the girls, just message them?

Why do u message to other girls? there is no need for that, especially if u have very jealous girlfriend.

u have to think what is more important to u, texting to other girls, or having ur girlfriend calm. Being jealous, she is just showing u how much she cares. Nothing wrong in that ...

She wants you to herself. She really shows she loves you but if she is really over protective I would dump her. She's acting too nosey of your private text messages but unless you are actually cheating she has a right too.. but that's a different story. :)

umm well it's not normal, it's called being overbearing, paranoid, jealous, and really really clingy. Usually that leads to the demise of a relationship, to be honest with you. I'm sorry to say that, but if she doesn't change and won't trust you, then I don't think you two will be able to be together.

Get out of it now. She is going to get more controlling and seriously do you want that in a marriage possibly??? I would hope not. Most normal women would never do this. It is an obvious invasion of privacy, but it is also a message telling you that she does not trust you.

Someone who does that probably has self esteem issues. It is not a healthy relationship if you spend a lot of time with her and don't have any other friends - especially if she isn't letting you have other friends. That doesn't mean I'm telling you to break up with her - or at least not yet. I'm simply saying that you need to talk with her and tell her you love her but you want other friends too. If she doesn't like it, maybe you should rethink your relationship with her. Good Luck!
